Solitude - the name fits

Myself, wife and son spent four days at this condo in March 2010. We are mid 40's and our son is grown. Our biggest desire, besides great skiing (which we had), was peace, quiet and a nice kitchen. From the moment we arrived and checked in at the 24hr concierge desk until we left we had a great experience. The condo building was right at the base of the mountain, our unit was large, nicely furnished, comfortable and very quite. Because the unit sits at the end of a hall and an emergency exit separates it from other units there is only one small wall that adjoins any other condo. So besides being very quite there's quick access to the outdoors. We we're on Apex lift each morning in under 10 minutes including our ski locker visit. The condo has an incredible master shower, a second full bath and the kitchen was well equipped. It lacks slope views on one side but was otherwise perfect. Each evening we took a soak in the hot tub to ease the days soreness from great skiing. This was my wife's first ski trip in the west. Her comment as we left Big Cottonwood Canyon was "when we ski again next year I want to come back here". Those words were music to my ears. I don't know a better compliment other than to say we plan to return to Solitude next year for a full week and we're hopeful we can book this same unit. The staff at Canyon Rentals made the trip planning simple and they we're responsive to my emails and phone calls. They always either called or replied via email within 24 hours. Good service and friendly.
